Back to my favorite area. This time my main goal was to see grizzly bears. I have seen only one grizzly in all the years of visiting the parks. I was there just a little late on my last two trips. I made this another 5 week trip but went a month earlier. I was hoping to see some bears before they went to den for the winter. The timing paid off. I observed 8 adult grizzlies. I spent the first week in Grand Teton National Park, then two weeks in Yellowstone National Park, and back to the Tetons for the last two weeks.

This first gallery features photos from the first week in the Tetons. I call it "Smoke Week". The Pack Trail Fire had been burning east of the park for several weeks before I arrived. I didn't think much about it because it was 30 miles east of the park and the prevailing west winds should would keep the smoke out of the park. Boy, was I wrong! There was nothing I could do about it so I decided I may as well make lemonade from the lemons, right. I tried to use the smoke as a creative element.
