The birds nesting on this little island have a security guard. Seems every time I have been to the rookery, there has been talk among the visitors of an alligator in the pond. I have seen one on maybe 3 of my visits. I'm sure it's a different one every time but, there is always one. A good way to keep the predators away and in return the gator gets the occasional baby bird that falls from a nest.
